The R package emdi is also basis for some published papers that will be introduced in the following.
The first publication about package emdi introduces the direct estimation and the first version of function ebp that enables the empirical best prediction approach. It also explains the idea of the package to be as user-friendly as possible in order to make small area estimation available to a wide range of practicioners.
The paper is published in the Journal of Statistical Software.
The second paper (not yet published) explains the steps to produce domain estimates with area-level models. The necessary steps are explained along the basic area-level model but also the specifications for the extensions are shown.
